Dinwiddie County Traffic Court hears traffic cases for attorneys at 9:00 a.m. every Thursday. There is one courtroom in Dinwiddie County that hears traffic cases. The attorneys’ cases are always called first, so be prepared to wait all morning and most of the afternoon if you are planning on representing yourself.

Dinwiddie Traffic Court has recently promoted their permanent judge. Therefore, now there is a rotation of substitute judges sitting on the bench in Dinwiddie County until a permanent judge is assigned to the bench.

Expect long delays and wait times in Dinwiddie Traffic Court because Judges hear Attorney represented cases and Motions first and later hear people’s cases who are not represented by Attorneys.

The best reason to hire an attorney for your Dinwiddie County Reckless Driving/Speeding ticket is because the attorney understands what the Judge is willing to consider as a fair disposition and stands the best chance in receiving any reduction of your traffic charge. Also, in most cases, the client does not have to be present in court if he/she hires an attorney.

Police officers and Commonwealth Attorneys in Dinwiddie County Traffic Court do not negotiate directly with Defendants. Every judge is different and wants to hear different facts in making their decisions. Your Attorney must be familiar with this jurisdiction and highlight the strengths of your case based on the presiding judge.

If the client hires an attorney, and has an out-of-state license, the client must send a copy of his/her state’s driving record to our office so that we can produce that record to the judge. If the client has a Virginia driver’s license, we still ask for the driving record so that your attorney can review your record prior to the court date.  If given the option from his/her state, an UNCERTIFIED, 5 year record would be the best option (Shorter records are best, as long as they are at least 5 years long).

Sometimes the judge may require the client to attend driving school as part of the disposition in the case. Driving School can be completed online (on sites such as www.idrivesafely.com) in the comfort of the client’s home and does not need to be attended in person.

Speeding, Reckless Driving, and DUI citations are all serious matters in Dinwiddie County so you should always discuss your options with an attorney. Take advantage of some free advice, and call our office for a free consultation today at 804-554-4444.

Christina Pendleton & Associates is built on four simple principles:

1. Being honest with our clients in the assessment of their case based on our handling of 1000’s of traffic cases: Our experience has shown that too many attorneys will tell clients what they want to hear regardless of the reality of their situation. Christina will tell you the truth about your case based on handling hundreds of cases similar to yours. Sometimes an attorney cannot help you. When that is the case, we will tell you without taking your money for a court appearance.

2. Make hiring the firm a very simple process: Just call 804-554-4444 and one of our friendly staff will walk you through the process and make it as simple as possible.

3. Developing  working relationships with the people that matter in order to secure the best disposition possible for our clients: there are very few “simple” traffic cases. Sometimes you may be an out-of-state driver, you may have a commercial’s driver’s license, or possibly have prior traffic violations. All of these things serve as moving parts which must be considered in the disposition of your case and requires someone with experience handling reckless driving, speeding, and DUI cases in the County of Dinwiddie.

4. Provide quality legal representation at affordable prices: We believe every person has the right to legal representation. This is why we provide free consultations to explain your rights and why we strive to keep our fees very competitive.
